For art, Angel and I created a painting to show the dark side of the Juarez Cartel. We started off by creating the canvas and painting it red. We then painted a dark shadow on the canvas to represent the bad people in the cartel. There is also a little skull in the top right corner of the painting which is the logo of the cartel. Adding this gave the painting a more mysterious and sketchy vibe which we wanted. It took us about 2 weeks to complete the painting since we had to keep touching it up and adding more red and black to make it perfect. For the skull in the top corner we had to use graphite paper to transfer it onto the canvas after I sketched it on regular paper. It came out really light so I traced it with a sharpie and painted some red on it to give it a smeared look.

For Ela we were first gonna do a visual essay but then we decided to just do a regular one. We did a bunch of research on the Juarez cartel and then decided what we were gonna talk about in the Essay. We ended up talking about why people go into the cartel, why it's dangerous, the behavior of the people in the cartel, how they make their money, and why the cartel kept going on and on. We went back into the essay multiple times to make sure we had everything we needed and to make sure the essay flowed smoothly in between the topics. Angel and I found that watching youtube videos on the cartel was an easy way to get good knowledge on our topic.

For global studies we created a mind map. The mind map had big topics that were bribery, cash flow, violence, and demand for drugs. There were mini topics attached to those that were military and police, need of jobs and easy money, threats and killing people, and close markets. Having the big topics and mini subtopics helped us explain everything that we needed too. At first our descriptions were too small to get all of the reasoning in so we went back in and added more to all of them so there weren't any "why" questions left to ask.
