ArtTo start my art project I had to do research on how the prison looks. I found out it was dirty and super crowded so I wanted to mimic it by creating a model. To do this I started by 3d printing a jail cell. It took a few tries before I got the right size. I also had to print out people and a bed. This also took a few tries to get right. Once they were printed I painted the cell black and brown to show an old dusty effect and I made the people have red feet to show disease. I wanted to do this for art because I thought it would be a good way to present how the inmates live.

Social studiesFor social studies I wanted to be able to explain everything about the prison. I started doing research on the government, living conditions, who was in the prison, when and where the prison opened, and why the prison is so bad. My idea was to do some type of powerpoint so I made a sway. I split it up into the categories of what, who, when, and where and then put all my information in. I had to go back and change things and add things a few times. I wanted to do a sway powerpoint because I thought it would be the best way to give facts about the prison.

English I wasn't sure what to do for english at first but then I decided to do journal entries from the perspective of an inmate in the Gitarama prison. I started the journal entries by writing about a person who was involved in a genocide killing and got locked up in the prison. Throughout the journal entries the inmate expressed how he felt about being in the prison. I also had the inmate talk about the diseases he got and what was going on around him to really help people understand what being inside the prison was like.
