Civics English Art
For FOC (foundations of citizenship) Angel and I created a website to give context on 4 cases and amendments that are important to us. To start this, we researched 4 different amendments and found cases where people got their amendments violated. After this, we put all of the information on our website and gave context on why the amendments are important and why they were created. We added pictures and we also went through how the constitution started, who was involved, and why it is important. At the beginning of the website there is an introduction about each amendment and why we added them.

For english, we chose to do a spoken poem. The poem was a good way to give context into the fifth amendment. The poem is about a citizen who's fifth amendment was violated and how he experienced police brutality. To do the poem we first had to look into other people who do spoken poetry. We took a look into different articles and videos to help us better understand spoken poetry. After that, we researched fifth amendment cases and chose one that had a lot of information. This poem gave context into how important certain amendments are and it has to do with the constitution because without the constitution we wouldn't have our amendments.

For art, Angel and I decided to do a painting of James Madison. We chose to do the painting of him because he was a big part of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Without him, the Bill of Rights might not be here. To start the process for the painting we first printed a picture out of James Madison for inspiration. We then made a canvas and did a grid on both the canvas and the picture of James Madison. After that, we sketched out the picture onto the canvas. This took a few tries because we ran into some issues with the gridding. Angel and I chose neutral colors to fill the drawing in and then we added the quote "We the People" to the side of the canvas. The quote gives context on the painting because it is the first 3 words of the constitution and James Madison helped to write it.
